Friends of Martin Mere

The Friends of WWT Martin Mere work to help The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust at Martin Mere visitor centre. They organise and support various fundraising and social events and hold regular illustrated talks. More importantly volunteers help to run the nature reserve, the grounds and the education service.

The Wildlife Trust
Friends of Mere Sands Wood

The Friends of Mere Sands Wood carry out conservation tasks, assist with events and in the visitor centre, promote the Wildlife Trust and help visitors to enjoy the wildlife and habitats of the site.

The Friends also have monthly meetings, consisting of lectures during the winter and open - air events during the summer.

Penwortham Education Centre

The centre holds open days for the local community to come and volunteer and participate in practical conservation activities and has a regular volunteer group from the local community who work on all aspects of the upkeep of the centre and its premises. They do everything from tending the garden and vegetables to woodland maintenance. Volunteers are needed in education, administration, maintenance, and to help lead Wildlife Watch activities.
