Martin Mere Education Centre

Martin Mere is a first class visitor centre that offers first class educational opportunities for all ages; from schools, colleges, scouts, guides, brownies, cubs, play-schemes etc.

Programmes are led by expert and dedicated staff who run hands-on interactive workshops based on wetland environments and their wildlife. Programmes last 90 minutes.

The programmes apply strongly to Science, Geography and Citizenship, but can be utilised for History, English and Maths.

Popular topics include Comparing Habitats; How Birds Move (KS1 only); How Wetland Creaures Adapt; Food Chains and Webs; Pond Dipping (part of two summer programmes); My Great Adventure (on migration); and the new full-day living history programme on invaders and settlers.

Once programmes are finished, you are welcome to spend as long as you like on site and are encouraged to explore the 300 acre nature reserve with its nine hides, feed the ducks, geese and swans in the wildfowl collection, and visit the shop and excellent adventure playground.

Teachers and helpers get in free within a standard health and safety ratio.

Martin Mere also offer s learning experiences for colleges and universities, based on Biodiversity, Environmental Management and Leisure and Tourism.
