Lytham St. Annes

Lytham St Annes is a coastal gem, located just three miles from Blackpool on the Ribble Estuary, an internationally important area for migrating birds. It is also a traditional seaside resort with five miles of sandy beaches. When not watching the wildlife you can hire a deck chair, build sandcastles, ride a donkey, or eat fish and chips or candy floss whilst strolling along the seafront taking in the fresh sea air. In addition to a wonderful coastline the resort is surrounded by the picturesque Fylde countryside full of pretty villages awash with character and charm.

Well known for the celebrated golf courses Lytham St Annes provides a diversity of other attractions including well-maintained parks and gardens with tennis, crown green bowling, miniature golf and even croquet throughout the summer months. There are historic buildings whose structure and content depict the history of the area and the families who moulded the towns and villages. These include Lytham Windmill and Lytham St Annes Lifeboat museum on Lytham green, Lytham Heritage Centre in the town centre, the stately home of Lytham Hall, and St Annes Parish Church.

Lytham St Annes provides an ideal base from which to visit the various wildlife attractions around the Ribble Coast and Wetlands and the RSPB Discovery Centre at Fairhaven Lake enables visitors to learn more about the wildlife of the estuary before setting out. There are coastal paths north and south of the estuary, and a number of cycle routes including the national cycleway, which connects the resort to Preston and onwards to Southport. Sections of the North and South Lancashire Cycleways add to local networks.
